The journey towards a transparent supply chain
Introduction:
The Blockchain Sustainable Apparel Coalition (BSAC) is a group of apparel companies and organizations that are committed to using blockchain technology to create a more sustainable and transparent supply chain. The BSAC was founded in 2018. It's the institution of four leading apparel companies: H&M, Kering, PVH Corp, and Li & Fung. PVH Corp is a combination of brands such as Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger.
The group’s goal is to develop standards and protocols for how blockchain can be used throughout the garment industry’s supply chain. By doing so, they hope to increase transparency and traceability, reduce waste and fraud, and ultimately make the fashion industry more sustainable. The sustainability of anything is proved when it is able to perform the task that is expected from that system.
The BSAC has been working on a proof-of-concept project to track the journey of a garment from farm to store. The project is still in its early stages. The management and the development team are focusing on creating an environment. This created environment will be useful for all members of the BSAC to track their garments.
Defining a common sustainability index for the apparel sector:
The first step in the BSAC’s efforts to create a more sustainable and transparent supply chain is to develop a common sustainability index for the apparel sector. The goal of this index is to help brands and retailers compare the sustainability of different garments and make more informed decisions about what to buy and sell.
The index will take into account a number of factors, including the environmental impact of the materials used, the working conditions of those who made the garment, and the end-of-life options for the garment (such as whether it can be recycled or composted).
The BSAC is still in the process of developing this index, but they hope that it will be ready for use by member companies within the next year.
Working on a proof-of-concept project to track the journey of a garment:
The BSAC is also working on a proof-of-concept project to track the journey of a garment from farm to store. The project is still in its early stages. The BSAC has already partnered with several companies, including IBM and SAP, to help develop it. They hope that the project will one day be used by all members of the BSAC to track their garments.
The BSAC is an important step toward creating a more sustainable and transparent supply chain. There are some standards and protocols for the successful implementation of the blockchain. They hope to increase transparency and traceability, reduce waste and fraud, and ultimately make the fashion industry more sustainable.
HOW cYBERIUM CAN HELP AND WORK?:
The BSAC is working on a proof-of-concept project to track the journey of a garment from farm to store. The goal of this project is to demonstrate how blockchain technology can be used to increase transparency and traceability. It is expected that all of the data from the start of the process should be easily trackable.
cYberium can help by providing a decentralized platform that allows for transparent and traceable tracking of data. In addition, cYberium can help reduce fraudulent activities by providing an immutable record of transactions. Ultimately, cYberium’s goal is to make the fashion industry more sustainable by providing a more efficient and transparent supply chain.
